Ducted Heat Pumps

Replaces your existing forced-air furnace and AC using your current ductwork. Whole-home heating and cooling from a single outdoor unit and air handler — the cleanest retrofit for homes with existing ducts.

Ductless Mini-Splits

Individual wall-mounted units for homes without ductwork, room additions, or zones that need independent climate control. No duct installation required — minimal disruption, maximum flexibility.

Heat Pump Water Heaters

Cold-climate performance

"Do heat pumps actually work in a New York winter?"

It's the right question. A decade ago, early heat pumps struggled in cold weather. Modern cold-climate heat pumps are designed for northeast winters. We select equipment around your home's heat loss, layout, and local winter design temperature.

Cold-weather operating limits and efficiency vary by exact model, capacity, controls, and design temperature. We identify the selected equipment’s certified performance data in the proposal.

Equipment-specific ratings. We match the selected model and backup design to the home’s calculated load and local design temperature.
Comfort is designed, not guessed. We match capacity and controls to your home so the system can perform across the seasons.
Backup is project-specific. If included, the proposal identifies backup equipment, controls, capacity, operating limits, and expected energy use.
Program-ready choices. When incentives matter, we show equipment that an approved provider can review against the current program list.

Run your heat pump on your own solar power.

Most HVAC companies install a heat pump and walk away. We also do solar and battery storage — and we can electrify your entire home under one roof, with one crew, on one contract.

Pairing a heat pump with rooftop solar may reduce purchased fuel and electricity, depending on usage, system design, weather, tariff, and contract terms. A battery can support selected loads during qualifying outages when designed and operated for backup.

Cold-climate heat pumps can be designed for New York-area conditions, but ratings vary by exact model and capacity. We use a load calculation, local design temperature, certified performance data, and a documented backup strategy where needed. We will show you the selected model's published cold-weather ratings and the backup plan, if one is needed.
Yes — that's the same unit. In cooling mode, a heat pump works exactly like a central air conditioner or mini-split, pulling heat from inside your home and exhausting it outside. You don't need a separate AC system. One system handles both heating and cooling, year-round.
Yes, when it's properly sized — and proper sizing is exactly what we do. We perform a Manual J load calculation for every home, which is the industry standard for determining exactly what capacity your home requires. A right-sized heat pump heats every room consistently, often more evenly than the oversized furnace it replaces. Homes with ductwork get a ducted system. Homes without ductwork get a multi-zone mini-split layout designed to cover every space.
We can show you programs worth exploring, but State Solar is not currently approved to submit New York HVAC rebate applications directly. An eligible provider must confirm your qualification, application, and payment.
We remove and properly dispose of it as part of the installation. Full fossil-fuel removal may affect program eligibility in some territories, so we review the current rules and project tradeoffs with you. Some customers prefer to keep a backup system during the first winter for peace of mind — we'll discuss what makes sense for your home at the assessment.
Yes — and this is where the economics get genuinely compelling. A heat pump runs on electricity. When that electricity comes from your own rooftop solar, your effective energy cost per BTU drops dramatically.
