The upgrade

Two old systems out. One modern system in.

Most NY/NJ/CT homes run a gas or oil furnace for heat and a separate central AC for cooling — two aging systems, two bills, two maintenance headaches, and fuel costs that keep climbing year over year.

A heat pump does both jobs in one unit, moving heat rather than burning fuel. In cooling mode it works like any AC. In heating mode it extracts heat from outside air — efficiently, even through deep winter. One system. One contractor. One set of warranties.

The result: quieter operation, more even room-to-room temperatures, better air filtration, and a monthly energy bill that's electric — not subject to gas or oil price swings.

Cold-climate performance

"Do heat pumps actually work in a New York winter?"

It's the right question. A decade ago, early heat pumps struggled in cold weather. Modern cold-climate heat pumps are built for northeast winters — and are now the preferred heating technology recommended by NYSERDA, NJ BPU, and Energize CT.

Brands like Mitsubishi, Bosch, and Carrier now operate efficiently down to −13°F. New York City's coldest nights average around 14°F. These systems don't just survive the cold — they perform well in it.

Rated to −13°F. NY/NJ/CT rarely hits that. Your system won't flinch.
More efficient than any gas furnace at any outdoor temperature above −13°F. Even at 20°F you're getting twice the heat per dollar.
Electric backup built in. Every system includes automatic resistance backup for extreme cold events — no interruption, no action required.
State agencies recommend them. NYSERDA, NJ BPU, and Energize CT fund cold-climate heat pumps specifically because they work in our winters.

A gas furnace COP is always below 1.0. A heat pump at any temperature in the chart above delivers more heat per dollar than burning gas.

Solar + HVAC

Run your heat pump on your own solar power.

Most HVAC companies install a heat pump and walk away. We also do solar and battery storage — and we can electrify your entire home under one roof, with one crew, on one contract.

When your heat pump runs on rooftop solar, you're not just eliminating your fuel bill — you're cutting your electric bill too. Add a battery and your home stays comfortable even when the grid goes down.

One assessment. One relationship. Same licensed technicians on every piece of the job. Most HVAC companies can't offer this. We can.

— 01

HVAC electrification

Heat pump replaces furnace and AC. Fuel bill goes to zero. Electric bill ticks up modestly — net result is a lower total energy cost.

— 02

Rooftop solar

Panels sized to cover your heat pump load and the rest of your home. Monthly electric bill drops dramatically — often to near zero.

— 03

Battery storage

Stores solar for evening and grid outages. Heat, cooling, and hot water stay on when the grid doesn't.

Near-zero energy bills

Heat, cool, and hot water — all powered by your roof. No furnace, no gas line, no fuel price spikes. All done by State Solar.

Yes. Modern cold-climate heat pumps are rated to −13°F. New York City's average January low is about 27°F, and the all-time record low is −3°F. These systems are engineered specifically for our climate and are the recommended heating technology from NYSERDA, NJ BPU, and Energize CT. Every system also includes electric resistance backup that activates automatically in extreme cold — you won't notice it.
Yes — that's the same unit. In cooling mode, a heat pump works exactly like a central air conditioner or mini-split, pulling heat from inside your home and exhausting it outside. You don't need a separate AC system. One system handles both heating and cooling, year-round.
Yes, when it's properly sized — and proper sizing is exactly what we do. We perform a Manual J load calculation for every home, which is the industry standard for determining exactly what capacity your home requires. A right-sized heat pump heats every room consistently, often more evenly than the oversized furnace it replaces. Homes with ductwork get a ducted system. Homes without ductwork get a multi-zone mini-split layout designed to cover every space.
It depends on your state, utility, household income, and the equipment we install. New York homeowners can qualify for up to $12,000 through NYS Clean Heat, or up to $24,000 if income-eligible through EmPower+. New Jersey can reach approximately $8,900 combined through NJ Whole Home and utility equipment rebates. Connecticut can reach $10,000 through Energize CT. We confirm your exact qualification at the free estimate and handle all paperwork on your behalf.
We remove and properly dispose of it as part of the installation. Full fossil-fuel removal — old furnace and water heater — also qualifies for the highest rebate tiers in NY and NJ, so removing both at once often makes the most financial sense. Some customers prefer to keep a backup system during the first winter for peace of mind — we'll discuss what makes sense for your home at the assessment.
Yes — and this is where the economics get genuinely compelling. A heat pump runs on electricity. When that electricity comes from your own rooftop solar, your effective energy cost per BTU drops dramatically. We design and install the solar array and battery storage alongside your HVAC system — same company, same crew, one contract. Most HVAC companies can't offer this. We can.
