Why This Matters

Faith communities hand thousands of dollars to the utility every year — money their missions could spend instead.

State Solar is an 8+ year solar company. We're running this initiative at cost — no profit — because the houses of worship in our neighborhoods have always been there for people who needed them.

A mosque in Danbury. A church in Queens. A synagogue in Hoboken. Regardless of faith, the utility bill arrives every month and takes money out of the community — money that could feed a neighbor, fund a scholarship, or simply keep the doors open an extra hour.

Solar changes that permanently. A congregation that owns its system runs on free energy for 25 years or more. The dollars that once left the building for the utility stay inside it, going wherever the community needs them most.

The generosity is designed to be circular. Because the congregation owns the system and holds tax-exempt status, it qualifies for the federal 30% direct-pay refund — a cash payment from the IRS, not a deduction. We facilitate putting that refund toward the next house of worship in the queue. Your gift reaches further than you think.

How It Works

Four steps from gift
to free energy.

— 01

You give

Sponsor one panel or any amount — every dollar goes directly toward the system. No overhead, no margin for State Solar.

— 02

Gifts pool

Donations collect until the campaign reaches 100% of the system's cost. Once fully funded, we schedule the install.

— 03

State Solar builds

Our team designs and installs the complete system in-house — permits, equipment, installation, commissioning. One company, one relationship.

— 04

The congregation owns it

Free and clear. No lease, no lien. They run on clean energy for 25+ years and redirect utility money to their mission — permanently.

Where Your Gift Goes

Complete transparency.

This initiative exists to serve houses of worship, not to generate revenue. Here's exactly how every dollar moves.

100% to the cause

Every dollar you give covers hardware, permitting, and labor for the install. State Solar takes no profit on this initiative — we build at cost.

One company, one relationship

We handle the entire project in-house: design, permits, procurement, installation, commissioning. The congregation deals with one team, start to finish.

Your gift keeps giving

Because the congregation owns the system and holds tax-exempt status, it qualifies for the federal 30% direct-pay refund. We put that refund toward the next house of worship.

Federal direct pay under IRA Section 6417 is available to tax-exempt entities for qualifying systems placed in service through December 31, 2027. Congregations should consult a qualified tax advisor regarding the refund process.  ·  Donation tax-deductibility: PLACEHOLDER — confirm before launch.  ·  State Solar makes no guarantee of future federal program availability.

Danbury Masjid

The Islamic Society of Western Connecticut has called 388 Main St home for years — a center for prayer, community dinners, youth education, and support programs that families across the region count on. Every month, an energy bill takes money out of that building that could stay inside it. This campaign funds their rooftop solar system in full. The day we commission it, the congregation owns it outright.

Why State Solar

8+ years. Everything in-house.
Running this at cost.

— 01

8+ years of solar

In business since 2017 with hundreds of systems installed across NY, NJ, and CT. Solar is what we do every day — this initiative runs on the same expertise.

— 02

Everything in-house

Our own engineers. Our own licensed crews. We design, permit, procure, install, and commission every system. One team handles it all — nothing is handed off to another company.

— 03

Licensed, insured & certified

Fully licensed and insured in NY, NJ, and CT. GAF Master Elite certified for roofing work — if a roof needs attention before panels go up, we handle that too, under one relationship.

— 04

Fully covered

Equipment and workmanship coverage on every system. If a mounting point ever causes a roof issue, that is our responsibility — not the congregation's.

Why we do this

"The houses of worship in our communities have always been there for people who needed them — food pantries, counseling, gathering spaces in hard times. Freeing one from its utility bill is a small way to help it stay that way. We donate our expertise and run this at cost because that's the right thing to do."

No. The congregation pays nothing. The system is funded 100% by public donations and built at cost by State Solar. On installation day, the congregation owns the system outright — no monthly payments, no strings.
The congregation owns the system outright — free and clear. No lease, no lien, no obligation to State Solar or anyone else. That ownership is also what allows them to claim the federal 30% direct-pay refund as a tax-exempt organization.
All equipment and workmanship is fully covered. If anything needs service after installation, it's handled — at no cost to the congregation.
Yes — use the nominate form on this page. We'll review eligibility and, when ready, open a campaign fund in that congregation's name. You don't need an account, and there's no cost to nominate.
Both are welcome. Monthly pledges help build a steady foundation for future campaigns — every recurring gift means more congregations get funded sooner. One-time gifts are equally valued.
The congregation claims the refund directly — it's a cash payment from the IRS available to tax-exempt organizations that own qualifying solar systems. Separately, we work with the congregation to pledge some or all of that refund back into the next house of worship campaign. Your gift reaches further than just one building.
Every house of worship is welcome — mosques, churches, synagogues, temples, meeting halls, and any other congregation-owned facility where a community gathers in faith. We serve NY, NJ, and CT.

Every panel is a small act of grace
with a 25-year ripple.

Give any amount. Every dollar goes directly to the cause — no overhead, no margin. The congregation owns their system the day we commission it.
